What happens when death becomes something only the wealthy can afford? Au Revoir explores that unsettling question through a retro-futuristic mystery set in 2071, where human consciousness can be stored inside synthetic brains and transferred between bodies.

Available for £4.19, the narrative adventure launches on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch, with Xbox Play Anywhere support included.

Published by Nuntius Games and developed by Invisible Studio, Au Revoir places players in the role of Tristan, a Sentinel working for the powerful Au Revoir corporation. His latest assignment is to locate a missing consciousness, although the investigation soon becomes considerably more personal.

A Mystery Hidden Beneath The Neon

In Au Revoir’s world, immortality isn’t a miracle available to everyone. The wealthy can preserve their memories and move between bodies, while corporations control the technology that makes such a process possible.

As Tristan explores the game’s detailed 3D environments, he’ll uncover documents, clues and conversations that gradually reveal more about the case. Characters aren’t necessarily eager to share everything they know, meaning careful observation and considered decisions could be just as important as solving a puzzle.

The investigation also begins to challenge Tristan’s understanding of himself. Questions surrounding his identity, his memories and the corporation’s activities add a more personal dimension to the wider conspiracy.

Investigation, Puzzles And Meaningful Choices

Au Revoir combines exploration with narrative-driven puzzles, asking players to connect information, examine their surroundings and use logic to progress. The developers have also taken steps to avoid one of the more frustrating traditions of classic point-and-click adventures: searching endlessly for a tiny interaction point that prevents progress.

Rather than forcing players to hunt for a secret pixel, the game aims to offer more intuitive solutions while retaining the investigative nature of the genre. Console-specific control improvements, new dialogue and broader gameplay refinements are also included compared to the original Steam release.

Tristan can travel between different areas using his car, while conversations and decisions help shape the direction of the story. There are five different endings to discover, giving players a reason to return after completing the campaign and reconsider earlier events.

A Retro-Futuristic World With A Darker Edge

The game’s neon-noir presentation blends colourful lighting with a heavier, more oppressive atmosphere. Its visual style draws on the 3D aesthetic of classic 1990s titles, creating a world that feels both familiar and distinctly futuristic.

That setting provides the backdrop for a story focused on immortality, corporate power and the ethics of manipulating human consciousness. As Tristan’s investigation develops, the line between the official mission and the truth behind it becomes increasingly difficult to separate.

At £4.19 from the Xbox Store, Au Revoir offers an inexpensive route into a mystery built around exploration, moral dilemmas and multiple outcomes. With its console improvements and emphasis on accessible investigation, Invisible Studio’s adventure could appeal to players who prefer their cyberpunk worlds to be explored through questions, clues and conversations rather than constant combat.
