As we type, Christmas is still a few months away, the summer clothes haven’t been packed away yet, however someone has already decided it’s time to decorate a tree. The Grinch 2: Saving Christmas launches on Xbox Series X|S, PC, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch, giving families a chance to get into the festive spirit considerably earlier than most people would probably like.

Available for £34.99 on Xbox, the new 3D platforming adventure comes from Outright Games and Casual Brothers. It supports Xbox Play Anywhere, meaning you can play across Xbox and PC, while those on PlayStation and Nintendo Switch can join the festive fun too. Yes, in September.

The Grinch Is Feeling Festive

The Grinch has apparently had a change of heart. With his heart now three sizes bigger, he wants to prove that his reformed ways are genuine by creating the most spectacular Christmas tree Who-ville has ever seen.

That means heading out into a series of snowy 3D environments, collecting ornaments and tackling platforming challenges along the way. The adventure spans 23 festive levels across four worlds, including Who-ville, Mt. Crumpit, Who Wood and the Grinch’s Cave.

However, this is still the Grinch we’re talking about, so the journey isn’t going to involve simply strolling around and singing carols.

Grinchy Gadgets And Snowy Obstacles

The Grinch has access to three useful gadgets, each designed to help him navigate the game’s challenges. Rocket Skates provide a burst of speed, the Jetpack helps him cross hazardous areas, and the Snowball Maker can freeze troublesome enemies.

Players will also need to deal with mischievous adversaries, discover hidden surprises and work through the various platforming obstacles scattered throughout the worlds.

Bring Max Along For The Ride

The Grinch doesn’t have to handle his latest Christmas mission alone. The game supports solo play, as well as local co-op for two players, with the second player taking control of his loyal dog, Max.

The two characters have different abilities, encouraging players to work together when crossing levels, overcoming obstacles and reaching areas that might otherwise be out of reach. It could make The Grinch 2: Saving Christmas a suitable option for families looking for something to play together over the festive period – whenever that festive period actually begins.

The Grinch 2: Saving Christmas now has the opportunity to offer a more enjoyable festive adventure, with 3D platforming, local co-op and a broader selection of gadgets and locations.
