Capcom have announced that their latest release for 2026 has already ticked over a significant sales milestone, as Onimusha: Way of the Sword sails past a million copies sold on launch day alone.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword is the latest release in a significant run of incredible success for the Japanese publisher, following the incredible success seen with Resident Evil Requiem and Pragmata.

In a new press release, Capcom celebrated the success, noting that with this latest release, the Onimusha franchise has now sold over 10 Million units. Check out the full statement below –

Capcom today announced that worldwide sales of Onimusha: Way of the Sword, the latest title in the series, have surpassed 1 million units on the first day of its release. Driven by the performance of this title, cumulative sales of the Onimusha series have now surpassed 10 million units.

Beyond this success, it looks like Capcom is more than willing to start bringing back classic franchises, as they stated that “In addition to regularly releasing major new titles each year, Capcom is focusing on re-activating IPs that haven’t had a new title launch recently. The company is working to further maximize corporate value by leveraging its rich library of content, including this title.“
